European Asbestos Services secured the asbestos removal and reinsulation contract to the steam heating main running throughout the Whiteknights Campus for a value of £210k.
The project consisted of some 1600 linear metres of sub terrain duct network (confined space) requiring full asbestos removal and subsequent reinsulation using preformed fibre glass section overlaid with PIB sheeting and aluminium cladding.
Following consultation with the client the project was undertaken during the summer recess over a 10 week period using a team of 15 EAS operatives.
The contract was a complete success with the European Asbestos Services management team bringing home the project 2 weeks early and within budget.
European Asbestos Services have subsequently been awarded a 4 year framework contract for removal of asbestos material throughout the University property portfolio commencing in October 2009.
