A wide range of asbestos work including remedial works and removal, continue to be undertaken by European Asbestos Services Ltd for a portfolio of properties belonging to the University of Reading.
European Asbestos Services has worked with the University of Reading since 2009 undertaking a wide range of asbestos removal and abatement operations across a portfolio of properties for the University that cover various sites in Reading.
The University takes a proactive approach to asbestos removal that is also mindful of proposed future refurbishment and remodelling schemes, and European Asbestos Services has become its preferred contractor to undertake work for its ongoing asbestos management programme.
Works undertaken
Various asbestos remedial projects and investigations have been carried out in the University's Main Campus & satellite premises including sensitive areas such as Student accommodation and teaching areas. Close liaison with the client enabled us to carryout required asbestos works with as little disruption to the occupants as possible.
Asbestos removal and re-insulation was undertaken to the steam heating main running throughout the Whiteknights Campus for a value of £210k. This project consisted of some 1600 linear metres of sub terrain duct network (confined space) requiring fully controlled asbestos removal and subsequent re-insulation using preformed fibre glass section overlaid with PIB sheeting and aluminium cladding. Following consultation with the client the project was undertaken during the summer recess over a 10 week period using a team of 15 EAS operatives. The contract was a complete success with the European Asbestos Services management team bringing home the project 2 weeks early and within budget.
Due to the success of this project European Asbestos Services were awarded the 4 year Framework contract.
