Asbestos insulation board
Often known as Asbestolux in the construction industry, Asbestos Insulation Board was used throughout the UK from the 1950s to the early 1980s.
It was used as fire protection, heat and acoustic insulation and as general building board.
The boards contain between 25% and 40% asbestos fibre - normally brown asbestos (Amosite) and / or White Asbestos (Chrysotile). The board can be vulnerable to impact damage and it does deteriorate with age.
There is a considerable risk of fibre release and contamination.
Typical applications include:-
- Doors - internal and external
- Partition walls
- Riser panels
- Ceilings
- Fire breaks
- Lift shafts
Although removal is not always essential, routine maintenance and protection is important. Please contact us for details.
