Asbestos lagging
Asbestos lagging - often known as Hardset or Sectional Insulation - was used a lot in the building industry from the 1920s right through to the mid-1970s.
The material was normally used for thermal insulation, and a type of asbestos called Blue Asbestos (or Crocidolite) was used in boiler houses and similar environments because of its resistance to acid.
This lagging can contain up to 100% asbestos fibre and is very vulnerable to impact damage, vibration, water penetration and it will deteriorate with age.
There is a high risk of contamination to people who are regularly around asbestos lagging.
Typical applications include:-
- Pipes
- Lofts
- Vessels
- Rising ducts
- Boilers
- Floor voids
Because of the high risk of contamination it is important to look at any problems as quickly as possible. Please contact us for details.
