European Asbestos Services were appointed sole provider for asbestos remediation at the world leading research and innovation sites at Harwell Oxfordshire and the Chilbolton site in Hampshire in 2019 for a 5-year period. Subsequently after competitive tender we were again awarded the contract in 2025 for a further 5 years running up to June 2030. This demonstrates the client’s continuing confidence in EAS to maintain and improve our contract performance and service delivery throughout this unique site.
The sites consist of a complete wide range of building types from office accommodation, laboratories and high-level industrial buildings, power plants along with many other various interesting types where use of dosimeters is mandatory. Typical remediations works are very wide and varied from working within subterranean tunnel systems (confined space working) to high level ( up to 12m) pipe insulation work from bespoke built scaffold insulations, plant/turbine areas and external facades.
The contract requires a high degree of planning as expected working within a high security site carrying out groundbreaking research to ensure no disruption to critical infrastructure and ongoing experimental processes and design.
